Discussion 1

On June 11th President Kennedy said, "This is the end of segregation." How did the President's actions change America? Was it the end of segregation? Do you see examples of segregation today? Have you heard of examples of segregation from your parents/grandparents?

The presidents actions changed America by making it a better place for all people. For example the blacks can drink where the whites drink. Can vote where the whites vote. Can eat where the whites eat. Can get a good job like the whites. That’s how the president changed America.
No, it was not the end of segregation because some other states still allowed it. For example Martin Luther King got the south to end segregation but the north did not end it when the south did. they still treated each other unequally. That’s why it was not the end of segregation.

No ‘ I have not herd about segregation from my parents. I have not seen any examples of segregation.

313/When President Kennedy said “This is the end of segregation” black people were releaved and happy that they now had equal rights.Kennedy changed America a lot because now black and white can get along. They can also work together. Also they can be nice to each other. No, I don’t think that segregation is really over but there is not as much of it.Kennedy did the right thing by getting on t.v and speaking world wide.Yes,I still see segregation till this day.People are still racist. No, I have never heard a racist statement come from either my parents or from my grandparents. This is what I think about Kennedy talking to the world about segregation.

President Kenndy's actions changed America by stopping Segregation for awhile. Unfortunately he was assassinated 5 months later. Yes this was the end of segregation in the USA for many years.I do hear examples of segregation today. For example, if your to white most would consider you a “albino”. If you have brown skin you are considered a “ beaner” by most kids. An finally if you are black some people would call you a “ nigger” . I my self don’t say these words to anyone. NEVER !Actually, I have never heard anything from my Parents or Grandparents. What you would consider examples of segregation. In conclusion, President Kenndy was right. That was the end of segregation.

The women that sead we where born black in Alabama and we are going to get hurt if we did not do anything about it. She meant that if they don’t do anything they wont be free in life. The kids did not get hurt by protesting and getting arrested. The out come was that the kids did not get hurt and they kept going back to jail and the kids where read for D-day and the kids won the right for freedom and then the children where excited because they heard about it an the news.

I think that the President’s actions on June 11Th completely changed America in lots of ways. People don’t go and use different bathrooms because of the color of their skin. President Kennedy showed how to share equally with other people. He also taught us not to judge people by the color of their skin. Honestly, I think segregation ended once President Kennedy passed the act but racism has not left. Segregation has been gone ever since President Kennedy passed the act. My grandparents have very close friends who lived here during those horrid times. They always tell me how many people living in the country feared stepping foot outside of their houses because of how violent people were back in the day. They also told me how they always wanted to eat at a fancy restaurant but they couldn't because of segregation. They also say that they are disappointed to see people treating others like crap. Well I'm pretty glad I did not have to go through all that.

The president's actions changed America by making us one.It isn't white and colored its one nation. i don’t see any drastic sorts of segregation still people here and there that treat others bad because of there skin color. its nothing bad like KKK but its still not right. I usually just over hear people talking about it or saying how there going to treat this person. My mom was seven when D-day happened she lived in Ohio though and there were no slaves in her town. She doesn't really talk about it though and I haven't asked either but I hope she knows something about it. President Kennedy still impacted this country in a big way. I have friends that are different skin color then mine and I don't know what i would do with out them. I just wish I could tell president Kennedy thank you in person.

On June eleventh, President Kennedy said “ This is the end of segregation .” First, how did the President’s actions change America? The President’s actions changed America because after he said that statement people started treating African Americans equally. Next, was it the end of segregation? I would say it was the end but then again it wasn’t. I am in the middle because there are still some racists in Birmingham and all over the world. Third, do you see examples of segregation today? No, I don’t see examples of segregation today. Last but not least, have you heard of examples of segregation from your parents? I have not heard of segregation from my parents, we don’t talk about it.

The president’s Kennedy actions change in America because he wanted white and black people to stop the violence. He did not like the pictures that were taken by the fire department when the were spraying the color people on the head to knock them down on the ground. It was the end of segregation for some people. Some people still don’t care for segregation. They like to still make colored people feel bad. I sometimes see segregation at school. When kid’s at school that think they are cool they like to bully kids in the hall and they sometimes say they are messing around with you and they make you feel bad. No, I never hear or see segregation with my parents or grandparents because they are nice to people who are nice to them and they are nice back to them in the why they were to my parents and grandparents. They sometimes are nice to people that are not really nice to them. I also know that when I am not around my family still does not use segregation. Segregation is bad for anyone to do. It may hurt the wrong person and you don’t want that to happen in your life.

*When President Kennedy said, “This is the end of segregation,” it made people in Alabama relieved, I think. Not only in Alabama but the rest of America too. JFK’s actions changed America by promoting equality to everyone, not just white people. There was (and is) racism all over still. When Kennedy announced that segregation came to an end, he was assassinated only five months later. KKK bombed 16th Street Baptist Church where the march started. Obviously white people were very upset that colored people had the same rights as them. Segregation is not all about race. It can be about sexuality where some states, you cannot marry the same sex as you. Social classes are a segregation too. Mostly same colored people live in a specific type of neighborhood. In school there is segregation with school cliques such as popular, prep, outcast, emo/goth, theatre kids and many more. Many countries around this world can come to America for a better life but Mexicans can’t. It’s unfair to rule out Mexicans crossing the border and not letting them earn a better life. That is another example of segregation. Segregation is alive today and it’s sad. I haven’t heard of segregation examples from my grandparents. I learned about racism, segregation and inequality in school. If I did hear stories, I’d imagine that they would be pretty horrible. Hopefully, segregation with everything can come to an end.*

I agree with everything you said. Some people do still segregate. Also, you have to give respect to get it so if your nice people are going to be nice back.

I thought the same that if you don't do something you would never be or have the freedom you want to have for you, your kids, and your family.

You're right, there are examples of racism all over. It shouldn't matter what language you speak or what you look like or what the color of your skin is, you should treat people with respect.

The president’s actions changed America by Kennedy saying that, “This is the end of segregation,” after he heard what had happened in Birmingham, Alabama. However, the mayor said that he thought that it was just as racist as the rest of the country.

No, I don’t think it was the end of segregation. Just because one person said it was does not mean that everybody would stop being racist. Even today you still see racist people no matter where you go.

Yes, I do see examples of segregation today because almost everybody is racist even if they don’t think about it. Another thing is there are still the groups of KKK and other racist groups out there. Just because one person says this is the end of segregation does not mean every body will act accordingly.

I mean everybody has heard of examples of segregation from parents/grandparents because most of it is out of rage now days and not because they truly hate the person.

I thought the same as you did that if Kennedy didn't do the speech the world would not be like it is today and we won't have colored friends or family at all.

#704 The End Of Segregation
On June 11th President On June 11th President Kennedy said, "This is the end of segregation." The Presidents actions changed America by The White’s Starting to like Colored people and didn’t judge anyone by their race anymore . The actions of Kennedy were outstanding , Everyone single person can be free now . I do see some examples of ‘ Segregation ‘ Today, Sometimes people would call colored people the “ N “ word and mean it . They would treat them like their not important , but every single person is just as important as you are. Just because someone is a different race than us doesn’t mean we should be treated differently . Were all still human beings you know! I hear some examples of segregation from my grandpa . He always use to tell me little stories , how back then nobody would like colored people because they thought they weren’t as important as the others . He didn’t like how colored people were treated at all !

On June 11th President Kennedy said, "This is the end of segregation."

How did the President's actions change America? The presidents actions changed America by making every body get treated the same. He made Whites see Blacks in a different way. This helped the Civil Rights Movement get passed for the African Americans to have there freedom that they deserve.
Was it the end of segregation? Not quite this started the Civil Rights Movement but Not everything gets passed that easy. So it took a little negotiation. Martin Luther King helped and got passed soon enough.

Do you see examples of segregation today? The ways i see segregation is the KKK (Klue Kluts Klan) They are a group of people that really dislike Blacks and other races.

Have you heard of examples of segregation from your parents/grandparents?

On June 11th, Kennedy said, “This is the end of segregation.” The president’s acts changed America alot. It allowed black people to go in stores, eat in restaurants, play in playgrounds and all of that. Before they were not allowed to do any of that. I think that was the end of segregation only in the South. It still was going on in the North though. I have not seen any examples of segregation today. Although, around some place it might still be happening.I have not heard any examples from my parents or grandparents. They might have heard of it or seen it. They have not told me about it though.

I do agree with you definitely. When Kennedy announced that, he did make whites see blacks differently. YES KKK is a very big example of segregation today.

President Kennedy changed America by saying these words,"This is the end of segregation." By saying this he let other whites to see another side of African Americans and reconsider what they thought about blacks. After he said this, he was assassinated five months after his public announcement on television. So it was out of his hands but Dr.King was led on to lead a campaign to join the two races. It took quite a long time but succeeded. The races where to love each other and see each other as equal. Five years after the Civil Rights Movement had passed with help from Dr.King, he was assassinated. I do not see segregation today. No one in my family or really anyone I know has talked to me about segregation

Was it the end of segregation?
No. It took some time for the Civil Rights Movement to be passed but it did and Kennedy could not help because he was assassinated long before the campaign showed up. For this reason Martin Luther King led the campaign and soon enough it got passed. Five years later he was assassinated but he let his people free.

I believe that segregation is bad and the colored people want get to eat at a dinner places and eat with the white people and be in a family with the white people and have to get to school with the other kids and to meet new people in the world and to be there when they need some other persons saying in thing that they need help in besides their own colored person and not the other.

President Kennedy’s actions changed America a lot because everyone had to change their everyday lives. For example the blacks who didn’t have very good jobs could go out and get better ones. Schools for black kids could now get better books. Some white people probably rebelled against Kennedy’s new law. Even buildings had to change, for example the whites only signs have to be taken down and some buildings lay outs had to change. I think the biggest part of segregation was over but there was probably still some going on tho. I have seen examples of segregation today, for example a girl couldn't join a club just because she was black. I have not heard examples of segregation from my parents or grandparents.

To start, the presidents actions changed America because he thought it was wrong that black people were abused and treated differently from the white. I also think the president was tired of all the white people taking over all the things that the black people could use today. I think it kind of was the end of segregation because the people that are different are being treated right and isn’t having a whole bunch of problems as there were back then when Martin Luther King Jr. was alive. On the other hand some people are still being treated wrong. Lastly, I sometimes still see segregation. Segregation is mostly happening in school rather than not on school property. Those are my three answers for the three questions.

discussion #1.

I have heard and seen examples of segregation today. When presedent JFK said “this is the end of segregation”, here is what i think about that and segregation today. I have seen examples of segregation today. Here are some examples of segregation that i have seen. I was in Texas with my cousens and We were at their friends house, their friend is black. We got hungry so his dad wanted to take us out to eat, they wanted to eat at a resteraunt that they never tryed before. When we walked in people were looking at us like we did something wrong, and the workers were looking at us weird also, one of them came up and told us that they dont serve nigros. We all got offended so we left.

President JFK did change America but i still see examples of segregation today. When JFK spoke on t.v and said “this is the end of segregation’’ he let America know that he thought it was wrong and he wanted it to end.
